Willemstad Hato Curaçao Airport ( CUR - TNCC )
Curacao is a small Caribbean island located in the southern Caribbean just 80km north of Venezuela. Of Dutch domination, the island has a rich colonial past. The island's charming capital, called Willemstad, is the main town and is located in the center-south of the island. Hato Airport is located in this small town in the north-central part of the island. It consists of a small terminal located south of a runway oriented 29-11. The winds coming from the east all the year, it is therefore mainly the track 11 which is used for all the traffic. The company of the island, Insel Air is based in Curacao. It mainly operates flights to other islands and the southern United States. The maintenance center of the company is on this site. Many old Insel planes are stored there, mainly MD80 and Fokker70, some of them having no more engines. A small aircraft company, Air Divi, is also based in Willemstad Hato and has a maintenance center there. The large flow of passengers comes from KLM and TUI Netherlands flights from the old continent on a daily basis. The other flights observed at this airport come mainly from South America and more particularly from Venezuela: Avianca, Copa Airlines, Surinam Airways, PAWA, Avior and many other exotic companies. Three daily scheduled flights from the US are operated by American Airlines, Jetblue operates two weekly flights. Wetjet and Air Canada Rouge provide a one-day flight from Canada. From a cargo point of view, as the week goes by many flights are observed. Every morning, an ATR42F DHL makes a stop on the island to drop off and pick up packages, Amerijet operates flights three days out of Miami and Emirates Cargo marks stages from South America to Europe through Hato. Finally, cargo activities drain from time to time flights of very atypical companies from the south sometimes with aircraft of another age. A Guards Coast military base is located southeast of Willemstad Airport. The observation planes but also the rescue helicopters are based there. It is not uncommon to observe military flights from the US Air Force or another nation. To conclude the description of the airport, we saw a lot of private jets and small planes of tourism, which will park on the vast parking lot in the east of the ground.

Our journey to paradise began in Amsterdam, when we boarded flight KLM 735 on November 25, 2017. The "Queen of the Sky", the famous Boeing 747 PH-BFN took us to destination after 9:15 flight. We chose accommodation located in St Michiels in the south of the island, for its proximity to the beach of "Blue Bay". It is a real paradise but we calculated the fact that the wifi of the hotel allowed us to follow the aerial activity of the region on the radar and if necessary to travel the 10 minutes of journey to reach the famous point of spot. This observatory was created by the airport to welcome children, curious people or fans of the aviation world for free. The breathtaking view overhangs the track and allows you to take pictures from different angles with almost all day the sun in the back and with the sea in the background ... that happiness! So we went a good time several times during the week to take pictures with however clouds that gave us a lot of trouble by the time ... but luckily all in all we had the most interesting planes in good light conditions.
