Malte - Luqa ( MLA - LMML )
Located 6 km south of Valletta, the capital of the island of Malta, International Airport is the only one on the island. It consists of a passenger terminal located north of a runway numbered 13-31, on a west facing shorter second runway 05-23 is for light and military aviation. South and west of the airport complex there are many maintenance hangars where aircraft of various European companies come they undergo maintenance. About traffic, Air Malta national airline is based at the international airport and is the majority of traffic. The Med Aviation company using Beechcraft 1900 is also based at Malta Airport. The European major airlines fly daily to Malta airport, Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways and Olympic. All other traffic is operated by the main European low cost airlines, including Ryanair, Easyjet, Vueling, Wizzair, Transavia or Jet2. Long-haul flights are operated by Emirates from Dubai by forming a triangle via Larnaca and Tunis. Cargo flights are operated daily by DHL and TNT. A general aviation traffic is quite busy on this ground. Small private companies are taking advantage of favorable conditions of island status to base some planes as Hi Fly Malta and its fleet of A340 or Air Horizont. Finally, given the strategic location of the island between Europe and Africa, many military activities are regularly observed in Malta Airport.

Spotting trip from 22 till 25th August 2016
Our spotting trip to Malta started on 22 August 2016. We arrived on the Emirates flight from Larnaca, a rare opportunity for flight acute 2:15 aboard a wild body Boeing 777-300ER. During our journey we have made numerous visits to Valletta city filled with monuments dedicated to Catholicism and architectures remember the various occupations of the island Greeks to the Romans. Viewpoint spotting the morning we went to the observation deck located above the terminal. From this place we could take pictures of the ground operations but also the traffic on the track. Then towards the road along the taxiway for more pictures and we finished the day south of the 31-13 runway where a raised land welcomes spotters for their favorite hobby. Without further ado, I leave you now discover the harvest of photos taken during our trip on the island of Malta.
